Therapy
I used to be wary about going to therapy and didn't really understand it. I would say many people feel the same way, and it holds them back from going. When I decided to attend therapy, it was because I was at the lowest point in my life, and I needed guidance on how to get out of it. It's a common misconception that you have to start therapy when something bad has happened in your life, or you have a mental illness. If I had known this, then I would've started therapy before I got to a bad place in my life so I could learn how to deal with and cope with it better. I do believe people are normalizing therapy, and the culture around it is getting less stigmatized.
Everyone should go to therapy. Even if you have the perfect life or the crappiest one, therapy is meant to help you control, analyze, and reassess your emotions and actions towards things in your life. A lot of people also think they don't need therapy, but sometimes you have hidden trauma, toxic traits, or unhealthy habits that therapy can help discover and address it. While talking to a therapist, you are able to explore and open up about your life in a safe space without judgment.
Some benefits of therapy, according to Healthline, are improved communication skills, learning coping strategies, learning how to make healthier choices, and overall feeling better about yourself. So, you can learn all of that in therapy without having something bad happen in your life. Seeing a therapist helps people's emotional well-being and improves their relationships in their daily lives. I highly suggest you try therapy and see how much it can change your life!
